Bushey and Oxhey Round Table have announced with regret that this year’s Carnival will not go ahead. The event normally held in early July included the parade of floats from Bushey Heath through Bushey village as well as the carnival and fair.
Past Chairman, Richard Blake said: “Planning and running the carnival and parade has become an increasingly onerous task over the past few years at a time when our own numbers have declined. We very much regret having to make this decision and hope that we, or perhaps another group, will be able to stage the event in the future.”
Bushey and Oxhey Round Table has been running carnival for over 40 years, during which attractions have ranged from celebrity football matches to camel racing as well as the annual parade of floats. Although this event has been cancelled, Round Table will remain very active in the community.
Richard Blake adds: “Bushey and Oxhey Round Table will continue with many activities in and around the area, including joining Father Christmas at his annual outing with his float visiting many of the streets in and around Bushey and Oxhey.”
“We are also always looking for new members. In addition to the charity events for which we are best known, we also hold a wide range of social and family events both locally and nationally. Anyone who is interested in Bushey and Oxhey Round Table and what we do can look around this website or contact us here.
